Job Description

Dr. Yuko Okado's Behavioral Health Promotion Lab (Department of Psychology) at CSU Fullerton is currently looking for volunteer research assistants. Research assistants will primarily work on the Psychology Pathways project, an NSF-funded longitudinal study that uses AI-based technology to disseminate mentoring and facilitate career exploration among Psychology students. We have a strong focus on understanding and promoting STEM persistence among students from underserved and/or under-represented minority backgrounds. This is an excellent opportunity to gain research experience before applying for graduate school!

Note: This position is for non-CSUF students. If you are currently enrolled at CSUF, please apply via Titan Connection (PSYC 495 or PSYC 499).

Responsibilities (minimum 10hrs/week, most hours need to be scheduled during regular workdays)

• Provide assistance with day-to-day operation of the project
• Clean transcripts (e.g., virtual mentors, interview data)
• Help recruit mentors in Psychology
• Assist with participant recruitment, processing, data collection, and data checking
• Assist with the development of online surveys and intervention platforms
• Conduct library research
• Attend weekly lab meeting, etc.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail, initiative, organization, and professionalism
• Prior coursework in research methods
• Ability to learn different online platforms quickly
• Available to work in the lab for at least 1 year
• Must be 18 years or older, residing in the USA, and attending or graduated from college
