Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s Environmental & Facilities Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Operations Engineer – Environmental Engineering.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support manufacturing operations at the Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina plant. 

Reporting to the Manager – Environmental & Facilities Operations, the person in this role will support the Environmental & Facilities Departments objective to ensure facility system operations for the new Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina Liberty site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of an Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.

  • Facilitate internal audits and prepare for external certification audits to maintain ISO 14001 certification.

  • Use data analytics to track environmental KPIs and support decision-making processes.

  • Develop and lead community outreach programs to educate the public about the plant's environmental initiatives, recycling efforts, and sustainability goals.

  • Investigate environmental incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of environmental performance, incidents, and compliance activities.

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of stormwater control measures to minimize runoff contamination.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical degree

  • Operating experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including hands on experience with production

  • Experience making KPI improvements for cost, operational rate, quality, etc.

  • Experience managing project budgets 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint 

  • Ability to work up to 20% overtime as needed

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including hands on experience with production

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing environment

  • Experience in battery manufacturing

  • Experience with Toyota Production System or similar lean methodologies
